The team converted three kicks from the penalty spot, and goalkeeper Gianna Knutson made several saves allowing just one goal to ensure the win.

Alexandria Atletico U-10 White had a memorable Memorial Day weekend of soccer as they competed in The Virginian soccer tournament.  Oliver, Evan, Saad, Levi, Alejandro, McLean, Joey, Asher, Isiah, Jared, and Ethan all were focused and ready for their chance to win in the final.  Both the offense and defense worked hard to seal the championship 3-0 on a hot and humid Memorial Day made for a well deserved championship for the boys.  For many boys and for the the team it was the first tournament championship and along with the boys excitement, the parents were equally thrilled but relieved the match was over and they could celebrate with their boys that worked so hard over the three days!  Way to go Atletico!!! In their eight-team division Dynamo Elite opened the tournament by beating the Beach FC Black 3-1, and the VSA Heat 95 2-0.  In the third game the Dynamo tied the Arlington Suprema Inferno 0-0 to advance to the final undefeated.  The final was a hard faught game against the ABGC Firestorm the Dynamo won the championship with a 3-0 victory.

The defense--Jack Hall, Aaron Carges, Tommy Hart, Matt Leaonard and Randy (pants) Harrell--played a great tournament led by the goalkeeper Jack Carver allowing only 1 goal in four games.

The offense--Kevin Ortez. Yousef Beidas, Jack Clare, Aidan Fielding Nick Cargas, Camille El-Baba, Colin Bell and our newest edition Spencer Amarantides--maintained a high level of pressure which created many scoring opportunities over the course of the weekend.

Our injured players Ben Cermak and Connor Ortman gave huge support and motivation to the team throughout the tournament, showing what a true teammate is.

GO DYNAMO!

U-10 Atletico Advance to Arlington Invitational Final

Alexandria Atletico White U-10 boys had a excellent showing in the Arlington Invitational Tournament, finishing runner-up in the Classic Division.  Atletico won their group with 2 wins and 1 loss and moved onto the Championship Final to face Chantilly which went undefeated in their group.  The game started off slow for Alexandria as the nerves of playing in a final was showing and Chantilly went up 2-0 quickly to start.  Atletico pulled a goal back to make it 2-1, but Chantilly again struck to make 3-1 going into the break.  All the boys on Atletico White: Oliver, Isiah, Alejandro, McLean, Asher, Matias, Joey, Levi, Saad, Jared, Evan, and Ethan took it upon themselves at halftime to show that their excellent play in the previous games was for not, and decided to show Chantilly that they could fight back!  Atletico got a goal back within 10 minutes to make it 3-2 and kept pressuring the Chantilly net to get the tying goal making it 3-3.  Each team would have their chances to end regulation and went to overtime where Chantilly got a breakaway and finished what ended up being the game winning goal in OT to win 4-3 in OT.  Both teams were exhausted as were all that watched the game realizing how great Atletico did to come back against all odds to almost win their first tournament as a team what for many of the boys was their first time playing for a championship.

Excellent work to all of the players on Atletico for working as a team the whole weekend, playing some excellent soccer, and sticking together when things looked rough to let all in their age group know that Atletico is a team to not be taken lightly in the future!
