3rd-6th Grade | Player Development Program (PDP)
What is PDP?
The Player Development Program (“PDP”) provides a transitional and challenging environment for players who are motivated to be more comfortable or confident within the game during their gameday experience. PDP participants include ASA recreational league players who would like further preparatory training or current travel players looking to improve technical skills. Other participants may simply have logistical conflicts to commit to the travel soccer environment and would like exposure to the great coaches that ASA provides to further enjoy their recreation experience.
Boys and girls are typically organized within the session by gender, age group and ability, then placed into training teams accordingly.
Coaches: PDP coaches are ASA professional and staff coaches. The coaches train players with the same standards and age appropriate curriculum used for the "travel" soccer players. Sessions are structured to introduce players to the most important technical and tactical concepts at each age group.
Spring 2017 (7 Weeks)
Fall and spring PDP sessions are offered each year to coincide with the recreational soccer league seasons. Hour-long training sessions will take place one night per week for seven weeks on Alexandria City premium fields. It is highly recommended that kids in the PDP program also play on a recreation soccer team to continue to build skills and game experience. If PDP players enjoy the competitive environment, they should consider trying out for one of ASA’s travel teams. Annual tryouts are held in the spring of each year.
