2016 Accomplishments
Who do we IMPACT?

Enrolled 3,000 unique players in the U5-U12 ASA recreational soccer league and U13-U19 Suburban Friendship League (SFL) in 2016
-
Enrolled 751 players in travel soccer, ages U9-U19
-
Hosted over 1,250 players in the Winter Futsal League including a high school division where each of Alexandria’s public and private high schools were represented.

Enrolled approximately 750 unique families and 1,000 annual participants in Tots Soccer
-
Offer seasonal training programs for over 2,000 players run by our professional coaching staff

Hosted over 300 teams at Fall and Spring tournaments
Community Outreach Initiatives

Allocated over 1,200 scholarship club wide totaling over $200,000 in aid

Invested $15,000 into a Futsal court development project in partnership with RPCA
-
Hired a full-time multi lingual community outreach staff member to improve accessibility by hosting over 150 free school and neighborhood based clinics for more than 3,000 kids annually

Hired a new bi-lingual club administrator

Developed and strengthened partnerships with local non-profits including Casa Chirilagua, Community lodgings, Child and Family Network Centers and ACT for Alexandria.

Worked with ACPS social workers and administrators to attend back to school events, fairs and outreach events to reach more children and families in Alexandria

Improved the scholarship application and allocation process to streamline enrollment

Continue the development of new programs to better serve low income youth in the City of Alexandria
Improved Coaching and Educational Resources

The technical staff now includes a full time Technical Director, Director of Youth Development, Director of Recreation, Academy Director and Futsal ID Director

Thirty-five travel coaches are on staff; all with national coaching licenses through U.S. Soccer
-
All travel coaches were required to attend multiple internal coaching training led by the ASA technical staff

Improved and distributed the age-appropriate soccer curriculum to all 250 volunteer rec coaches
-
Over 75 recreational league coaches attended the ASA Fall coaches clinic

Refocused program goals to emphasize skill building and character development

Invested over $25,000 in facility and equipment upgrades
Strengthened and Professionalized the Association
- Developed a comprehensive “ASA 2020” Strategic Plan
- Expanded program specific leadership staff including an Executive Director, Office Manager, Outreach Coordinator, Facilities Manager, Technical Director, Director of Recreation and Director of Youth Development.
- Launched new and improved web tools to include a redesigned homepage and website
- ASA’s Fundraising Committee hosted its fifth annual “Kickin’ It” Event
- Participated in ACT for Alexandria’s Spring2ACTion, raising over $50,000 in one day of fundraising
- Strengthened board committee structure, increased participation, and updated bylaws and handbooks
